All Mahjong Games (sorted alphabetically)

Mahjong games help the player to train memory and observation skills. Usually it is played by four people; however, there is a version of the one person game, which is called Mahjong Solitaire. The goal is to score the maximum number of points collecting the best combination of the initial amount of mahjong tiles. Players move in turn, counterclockwise.

There are 144 mahjong tiles in a typical mahjong game. All mahjong tiles are divided into three categories: Individual Suits, Honors, Flowers. Individual Suits are divided into the Stones, Bamboos, Character. Honors are divided into Wind tiles (East Wind, South Wind, West Wind, North Wind), Dragon tiles (Red Dragon, Green Dragon, White Dragon). Flowers are divided into Four of the flower tiles (plum, orchid, chrysanthemum, bamboo) and Season tiles (spring, summer, autumn, winter).

The presence of the factor of randomness in Mahjong creates unpredictable outcome of the game. Even the best mahjong professionals in a game with much less powerful players may not be guaranteed to win. Therefore, the class of a player is determined by the player's ability to predict the probability of outcome and the amount of risk involved. A large number of mahjong tiles in the game further increases unpredictable outcome of the game.

Mahjong solitaire is very similar to Card Solitaire, but with the Mahjong tiles. The Mahjong solitaire looks the following: At the beginning, all mahjong tiles are being mixed and randomly made into a certain pyramid. The player must de-construct this pyramid by removing two unlocked mahjong tiles in a single move. Almost all one-person computer games titled as "Mahjong" are Mahjong solitaire and not a classic mahjong for several players. As in card solitaires, in mahjong solitaires not all layouts can be solved. But in recent years, Mahjong solitaire games often use special algorithms for generating a pyramid, which can be 100% solved.
