The following hints and tips will assist players in getting high scores and solving the rebus puzzles in Concentration.
Getting a High Score
1. To boost position in the high score lists, save a high value car for the last match during the bonus round. The car values range from $19,000-$150,000 and you win the car last matched!
2. A returning champion is a player who won his or her previous game. As long as you remain undefeated, points earned from each game are added to your high score in the Champion high score lists.
3. Be sure to use any TAKE cards you've earned to steal your opponent's prizes before solving the puzzle. This is an easy way to increase your score and TAKE cards don't carry over to the next round.
Solving the Rebus Puzzles
1. Pay attention to your opponent's matching attempts. They will reveal the location of prizes and help you to make matches later.
2. Sound out the pictures of the puzzle and try alternative words for each picture. The puzzle solutions are phrases, objects, and names of famous people.
3. A +' (plus) sign between images indicates that the pictures are used together to form one word. If there are several images connected by +' signs, then sound out all the images together to identify the syllables that make up that one word.
4. Sometimes a picture can be misleading. Look for a red arrow which is pointing to a specific part of the picture.
5. You can take a guess at the puzzle solution each time you make a match. There is no penalty for a wrong answer. If you give an incorrect answer, you will still be given another chance to make a match. But, if you are playing against a friend, you do risk giving away part of the puzzle solution if you reveal your guess.
